 ABOUT US

 

Claire Crosbie TaeKwon-Do Schools were established in 2008 by 5th Dan black belt and instructor Claire Crosbie.  Our Schools follow the teachings of General Choi Hong Hi's TaeKwon-Do through our affiliation's with the International TaeKwon-Do Federation (ITF) and the British Isles TaeKwon-Do Federation (BITF). 

 

New students are welcome to try our classes for a period of 3 weeks without obligation to become a member.  If after this time you wish to continue your training with us we will require you to complete a membership application.

 

International TaeKwon-Do FederationJunior Classes

Junior classes for ages 5 to 15 are available at:

  • Sports Hall at Inshes Primary School on Wednesdays.

  • Raigmore Community Centre on Thursdays and Fridays.

Adult Classes

Adult classes for both the beginner to the more experienced are available at:

  • Drakies Community Centre every Thursday.

  • Raigmore Community Centre every Friday.

Other Classes

Our squad training classes are available to members only and are held at the Raigmore Community Centre every Saturday.  The class is available to all age groups.

 

Admission

Admission to our classes is £2.00 per session for both junior and adult students.  All our classes are taken under the instruction of Claire Crosbie, 5th Degree.  New members are always welcome to join us if places are available.  For further information please call us on 07851 607 872 or e-mail info@clairecrosbie.co.uk.

A brief history on Instructor Claire Crosbie, 5th Degree Black Belt

  • 1991 ..... Claire began her TaeKwon-Do training when she was 10-years-old and joined her local club,  Master Hutchison's TaeKwon-Do Academy in West Lothian, Scotland.

  • 1993 ...... She attended her first two competitions, taking a silver medal for patterns at the UKTA Scottish Championships and two gold medals for sparring and patterns at the BITF championships.

  • 1994 ...... She was awarded her 1st Degree Black Belt.

  • 1996 ...... She was awarded her 2nd Degree Black Belt.  She won a gold medal for patterns and a silver for sparring at the BITF Scottish Championships along with bronze medals at the BITF British and English Championships.

  • 1997 ...... She won two gold medals and a bronze at the BITF Scottish Championships.

  • 1998 ...... She attended an international seminar in Whitburn held by General Choi on a visit to Scotland.

  • 2000 ...... She won a bronze medal at the UKTA British Championships.

  • 2001 ...... She was awarded her 3rd Degree Black Belt.  She also collected silver medals for patterns at the UKTA Scottish and Welsh Championships.

  • 2002 ..... She competed at the Austrian Open Championships, taking silver medals for individual and team patterns.  She also picked up a silver medal at the UKTA Scottish Championships and a silver and two bronze medals at the London Impact tournament.  Claire was also awarded BITF "student of the year 2002"

  • 2003 ...... She was awarded her "C" class umpire certificate and "C" class instructor certificate.  She also competed for Scotland taking a bronze medal for team patterns at the World Championships and a bronze medal for individual patterns at the European Championships.  There were gold medal wins at the UKTA British Championships and Scottish Championships and two gold medals and a silver collected at the BITF English Championships.  Claire was also awarded BITF "student of the year 2003"

  • 2004 ...... She was awarded her 4th Degree Black Belt and collected two gold medals at the UKTA Scottish Championships.  She also competed for Scotland at the European Championships and as a Scotland representative umpired at the Junior and Veteran World Championships in Malaysia.  Claire was also awarded BITF "student of the year 2004"

  • 2005 ...... She became a registered instructor for the BITF and now takes classes on behalf of Master Hutchison's Academy.  She was also awarded her "A" class umpire certificate while attending ITF seminars in the Czech Republic and Greece.  While competing she picked up a gold and silver medal at the UKTA British Championships and gold for patterns at both the BITF British and Scottish championships.  Claire was also awarded BITF "student of the year 2005"

  • 2006 ...... She competed at the Cup of Peter the Great in St Petersburg, Russia and umpired at the Junior and Veteran World Championships in Bulgaria.  She also collected gold and silver medals at the BITF British Championships, the UKTA British Championships and the UKTA Scottish Championships along with two silver medals at the BITF Scottish Championships.  Claire was also awarded BITF "student of the year 2006"

  • 2007 ...... She umpired at the ITF World Championships in Slovenia and coached Master Hutchison's students who attended the UKTA Scottish and British Championships.  While competing she picked up gold at the inaugural Chang Ung Cup, an international competition in Edinburgh, gold and silver medals at the Slovenian Open, silver at the English Championships and two bronze medals at the Welsh Championships.  On the 19 October 2007 Claire was crowned European Champion after winning gold for patterns at the AETF European Championships in Estonia.  On her return home she duly announced her retirement from the competition stage.  Claire was also awarded BITF "competitor of the year 2007"

  • 2008 ...... She was awarded her 5th Degree Black Belt and attended the European Championships in Croatia as an official umpire.  Also during this year Claire was married to husband Mike and re-located to Inverness.  On 1 August 2008 her TaeKwon-Do schools were established in and around Inverness.  Claire was also awarded BITF "student of the year 2008"

  • 2009 ...... She attended an international seminar held by Master Hutchison in Gothenburg, Sweden.   She also was delighted to see the arrival of her first child, and now youngest member of the club, Alena Stirling who was born in December.  Claire was also awarded BITF "instructor of the year 2009".

  • 2011 ...... Training continues for her 6th Degree.

 BRITISH TAE KWON-DO COUNCIL

  

British TaeKwon-Do CouncilClaire Crosbie, as a member of the British Isles TaeKwon-Do Federation (BITF), is registered with the British TaeKwon-Do Council.

 

The British TaeKwon-Do Council is recognised by the Sports Council as the only governing body for TaeKwon-Do in the United Kingdom and has become a registered body with the Criminal Records Bureau, an executive agency of the Home Office.

 

The British TaeKwon-Do Council are able to obtain Enhanced Disclosure for all TaeKwon-Do instructors.  Disclosure is a document containing information held by the police and government departments, and contains details from lists held by the Department of Health and the Department for Education and Skills. Thus enabling them:

  • To verify that all instructors are suitable for teaching TaeKwon-Do in particular as it involves working with children.

  • It also ensures that instructors a fully aware of the strict BTC guidelines for Health and Safety, Code of Conduct, Child Abuse and that they have in place Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.
